Waste-to-energy plants: spot contaminants, understand incoming waste.
Spot visible contaminants at the tipping area and document deliveries. Depending on the set-up chosen, an estimate of composition and heating value can add to the information used to manage the bunker.
Explosions in the bunker, blind mixing, compliance under pressure.
Hazardous contaminants
Undetected gas canisters and bulky items cause explosions and blockages, damaging furnaces and reducing availability.
Energy recovery
Without analysis of the composition, mixing in the bunker remains approximate, which limits energy output.
Traceability and compliance
Regulations require strict reporting on incoming waste, but reliable data are often missing.
From the bunker to the report, a continuous chain of data.
Detection at tipping
Camera analysis at the tipping area, real-time alerts on visible gas canisters and bulky items, and notification of the operator, who decides what to do before incineration. An object hidden in the mass of waste can escape the camera.
Traceability of deliveries
As an option, automatic number plate recognition links each delivery to the company that made it and provides objective evidence of non-compliant deliveries, to be set up with your data protection officer.
Support for bunker management
Depending on the set-up chosen, an estimate of the composition and of the heating value (lower heating value, LHV) of each delivery, and support for mixing in the bunker. Its benefit for combustion is assessed at your site.
Operating reports
Automatically generated reports for regulatory monitoring and contractual exchanges.
What a trial can assess at your waste-to-energy plant.
- Two thirdsof French incinerators affected by explosions linked to nitrous oxide
- €40Min estimated annual losses for the sector
- 33 sitesin ten European countries equipped with the technology
Context and deployment figures from the technology supplier, press release of 5 May 2026.
Without measuring incoming waste
- Composition unknown when the waste is fed to the furnace
- Settings adjusted after the fact
- Contaminants discovered through their effects
With AI analysis in the bunker
- Composition estimated before feeding
- Settings anticipated
- Visible contaminants flagged on detection
- To be assessedVariability of the heating value, tracked before and after installation
- To be assessedHCl and SO2 emission peaks, compared over equivalent periods
- To be assessedThroughput, measured under the same operating conditions
Any gains on these indicators depend on the whole set-up (composition estimate, bunker mixing, plant operation), not on contaminant detection alone. They are assessed at your site, with a protocol agreed in advance.
